Pilot Travel Center

Pilot Travel Center

The OneGeorgia Authority awarded a 2001 Equity grant of $471,284 to the City of Vienna and Dooly County to provide water, sewer and gas infrastructure to develop an 86-acre site along I-75 for a proposed travel plaza and other development. Approximately 50,000 vehicles pass this federally designated Empowerment Zone daily with potential to add sales tax to the local economy. The Pilot Travel Center is the anchor facility and currently employs approximately 124 fulltime and part-time at this facility. Included with the facility is the only McDonald’s in Georgia to offer full seating 24 hours a day. McDonald’s sold over $1M in hamburgers alone in the first year of operation. This project site also draws tourists off the interstate with a family-owned pecan/fruit stand employing four. With community and private investment, the total project cost was just over $7 Million.
