EDGE funds to assist with the purchase of 25.59 acres and improvements to the existing building (a.k.a. General Manufactured Housing Property in the Appling Industrial Park.) The Authority has applied on behalf of Contender Boats, Inc., a manufacturer of semi-custom sport fishing boats that plans to occupy an existing 135,000 SF facility and make improvements to accommodate boat manufacturing. It's current 75,000 facility in Homestead, FL, cannot meet the company's projected growth. The facility will become its future headquarters. This project will create 234 new jobs initially growing to 424 jobs in five years. Private investment is projected to be $10.7 million. This project is in competition with South Carolina.
Equity funds to support Phase II of the Falling Rocks Park located at Deen's Landing adjacent to the Altamaha River in Appling County. When fully developed and operational, Falling Rocks Park will be the only publicly owned and operated campground facility in Appling County. It will provide 15 RV sites with hook-ups for electricity and water as well as 4 camp sites in a beautiful, natural setting along the River. The park and campground are expected to enhance and promote nature-based tourism development.
Equity funds to assist with the expansion of the Wastewater Treatment Facility for the Appling County Industrial Park West located in Baxley as well as the continued development of the Tri-County Industrial Park (Appling, Bacon & Jeff Davis) located on US Hwy 341. The expansion of the wastewater treatment facility is necessary to support the anticipated capacity needs of both industrial parks in a region with above average unemployment rates.
Equity funds to assist with development of Falling Rock's Park on 26.6-acre site on Altamaha River. Park will include picnic shelters, group shelter, parking, children's play area and nature trail, promoting nature-based tourism in area.
Equity funds for extension of sewer lines from City of Baxley to Appling County Industrial Park West. Project will retain 150 jobs, create 80 additional jobs and facilitate Phase I of sewer line extension to Tri-County Regional Park supporting Appling, Jeff Davis and Bacon Counties.
